Commerce City, CO is a lively city with a lively art scene. From rotating art exhibitions at its two recreational centers to public art initiatives, there is something for everyone to appreciate. The city also has its fair share of pollution, with point sources of certain pollutants such as the Suncor refinery. To address these issues, the Commerce City-North Denver air monitoring system was established.
Air monitors were installed at multiple locations in Commerce City and North Denver to measure six compounds. To help spread awareness of these compounds, Kearney High School students created posters to share with the rest of the school. The Commerce City Cultural Council also partnered with the Southern Adams County Water and Sanitation District to create a new public art initiative. This ordinance requires that each capital improvement project allocate 1% of the funds to the creation of public works of art to be placed on the project site or anywhere that meets the requirements to exhibit public art.
Art is an essential part of any city, and Commerce City is no exception. From air monitoring initiatives to public art exhibitions, there are plenty of ways to explore and enjoy the art scene in Commerce City. Whether you're looking for a unique piece of artwork or just want to learn more about air pollution, there's something for everyone in this vibrant city.
