Bret Michaels Headlines Winter Park Music Festival
Who says a quiet rural Colorado ski town can’t get rowdy for a rocking summer music festival? Not Bret Michaels! For the second consecutive year, the Poison frontman headlined the Winter Park Music Festival at Hideaway Park in Winter Park, Colorado. Michaels belted out Poison favorites like Every Rose Has Its Thorn and Talk Dirty To Me to hundreds of fans in his signature rock-n-roll bandana and cowboy hat. He even threw in some Lynyrd Skynyrd and KISS for a few classic American rock band sing-alongs. The show ended with Michaels’ team auctioning off his shirt, bandana, hat and both guitars from the concert–one of which sold for $5,000. All of the proceeds from the items were donated to charity.
The Winter Park Music Festival, presented by Denver radio station 103.5 The Fox, took place August 3-4 and also included The Outlaws, The Groove Hawgs, and Dave Mason. This was the top show in Winter Park in 2011, so it seemed a no-brainer to invite Bret Michaels back to headline the 2012 event. Michaels told the crowd he hopes to return to Colorado next year to headline the 2013 festival. The show was the last event in Winter Park’s summer concert series, a series of music events offering blues, jazz, classical, contemporary and, of course, some good old rock n’ roll.
